'Self-Defense' Bill Introduced in House of Representatives Story dated 12 January 2005
Sorry for the delay in reporting this. "The proposed Citizens' Self-Defense Act of 2005, introduced last week by Rep. Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland, would specifically protect the right of law-abiding citizens to use handguns, rifles and shotguns in defending themselves, their families or their homes." Thank you. Finally, there's someone in Congress who actually cares more about law-abiding citizens than actual criminals who seek to hurt people. "The bill also would allow people whose self-defense rights have been violated by any government entity to bring legal action in federal court." The more I read, the more I like, although I am annoyed that we need Congress's permission to sue for violations of our Constitutional rights -- I'll accept any facilitation they offer, though. I would love to see the socialists who run San Francisco get theirs when they are slapped with a federal lawsuit over their gun ban. If you think this bill is a good idea, be sure to contact your member of Congress. The bill is H.R. 47.
