Monday, January 10, 2005 Mexican Foreign Ministry Publishes Comic Book Detailing How To Be An Illegal Immigrant; Bush Failing the Southern Border Column dated 10 January 2005 There is something very wrong with how the allegedly security conscious Bush Administration reacts to the situation on the southern border. President Bush is very much in favor of granting amnesty to illegal aliens living and working in the country in open violation of our laws. He is the President, he is charged with upholding the law, not upholding Mexican law -- actually, Mexico has a much stricter border policy on their southern border than we do. Mexico receives something like $33 million in aid form the United States. They repay this kindness by aiding and abetting their citizens in violating the laws of these United States. They have published a comic book that tells would-be illegal immigrants how to safely cross the U.S. border. Millions of copies of this book have been distributed; "[i]t describes ways for illegals to cross the border without being detected by Border Control and gives detailed information on their "rights" should they be discovered by those charged with protecting America's borders." At the same time, the Mexican government claims that they don't condone law breaking. I agree with Mike North when he says that we should retaliate by simply cutting off that aid to Mexico. I have an idea, why don't we, instead, give that $33 million to the border hospitals that are deeply in the red after treating illegal migrants who cannot pay for the services (hospitals cannot refuse to treat someone in dire need). I have also heard that this comic book directs Mexican migrants to a Spanish radio station that broadcasts information useful to border-crossers -- such as the positions of U.S. border patrol agents. Attracted by Bush's talk of amnesty, Mexicans "have been snatching up copies of the pamphlet like a 10-year-old does the newest Harry Potter novel." Steve Yuhas supposes that "they're just getting it to read in case they one day decide to break US immigration law." We really need to call the Mexican government to account for this. We need, also, to get our own government to react. The hidden threat in this is that Islamic terrorists have been flying to Mexico and then crossing the southern border to the United States as illegal immigrants. "As recently as October U.S. intelligence services were placed on high alert as reports of 25 Chechen terrorists were reported to have crossed the southern border illegally, yet the administration (like every Democrat and Republican administration before it) has been silent on the pamphlet." ---------In My Humble Opinion: How To Be An Illegal Immigrant _____________________________________________ |
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
