Thursday, December 30, 2004 China v. Taiwan: History mocks territorial claims Column dated 30 December 2004 "There is absolutely no connection between the status of Taiwan and the Penghu islands as defined by the 1951 San Francisco Treaty and the government of the Chinese Communists set up in 1949, as they had never actually governed these territories. China should not confuse defeating the KMT army in China with occupying Taiwan and the Penghu islands." As I have said before, the Imperialist People's Republic of China has no legitimate claim to Taiwan. _____________________________________________ Imperialist China Continues Belligerent, Tyrannical Stance on Taiwan's Legal Status Story dated 30 December 2004 If Taiwan desires to remain independent form China, then they have every right to do so. Any interference by the so-called 'People's Republic of China' would be an immoral, criminal act. It is time for the international community to let China know that conquest of it's neighbors will not be tolerated. _____________________________________________ Saudi oil reserves could top 461 billion barrels; Sovereign Commentary still sees need for SEPS Story dated 28 December 2004 "[Saudi Arabia's] oil reserves, the world's largest, could increase by almost 77 per cent to top 461 billion barrels in a few years, the country's oil minister said Sunday." Make no mistake, in light of increased oil usage (and industrial pollution) by the People's Republic of China, this is extremely good news. This does not mean we don't need to be looking for alternative energy sources -- we use oil for many things besides fuel. The best proposal I have heard is for a Solar Energy Production Satellite (SEPS). As you may or may not be aware, a nuclear power plant is nothing more than a steam engine driven dynamo using nuclear fuel rods to heat water and create steam. In short, steam engines drive our most advanced naval vessels. Our standard coal burning plants generate electricity the same way. If we could somehow use solar energy to generate steam, we would basically have free, non-polluting, energy production. Well, it is possible to get enough solar energy to do this -- put it in orbit. We currently have the technology to put a standard-type power-plant satellite in geo-synchronous orbit. Such an energy prodection satellite would always be in the sun and thus could make use of solar energy to produce electricity 24/7. We have the technology to also transmit the energy a SEPS would produce to a receiver on the earth below in the form of microwaves. SEPS would deploy a large concave mylar "sail" to focus solar rays onto a small area of the satellite. The solar energy would boil a contained liquid shunted by one-way valves through a generator and onto the cold side of the satellite. There the gas would be chilled back into liquid and shunted through a second generator as it returns to the boiler chamber. Between the two generators a large amount of electricity could be produced, and translated into microwaves which would then be transmitted, via a broad-beam, down to the receiving station on the earth. The receiving station antenna would be about 100 meters square (to ameliorate the power of the microwave to anything flying through it, though the airspace would be restricted). The receiving station would then convert the microwaves back into electricity and send it out over the grid. After the initial costs of implementing the plan (I think it is estimated to be in the low billions, as high as 40 billion), we would have very cheap and non-polluting energy -- energy that is produced by an advanced application of technology that we have used for a century. Once proven, the SEPS electrical system might be duplicated many times, and supply electrical power to much of the world. Besides the initial cost, the major criticism of the SEPS is its use of mylar as a solar collector/focuser. Mylar is very thin and light. Several square kilometers of the material can be launched into orbit very cheaply (on the scale of materials we might transport into space). The argument is that it can easily be punctured by space debris. This is true, however, a sail of several square kilometers would have to suffer a great amount of damage before its solar-collection capacity is impaired (at least, that's what the experts say). At any point that the sail actually does require repair, the mylar has very low mass -- the cost would be minimal when compared to, say, a Hubble repair mission. Also, we are starting to see aircraft that can push into outer space. It is likely that by the time a SEPS would need repairing, space flight might be much more economical. Subject Matter: Alternative Energy Science Space Exploration _____________________________________________ China, Russia plan joint military exercise Story dated 28 December 2004 Bush describes Russia as a great friend of the United States. If this is the case, why are they helping an aggressive militaristic expansionist empire like China? Why is there no criticism of Russia in the international press (by 'criticism', I mean 'criticism that I can notice without looking for it' -- you know, the kind of criticism the U.S. gets). What if the U.K. decided they wanted to take Normandy back from France? (Queen Elizabeth II is technically Duchess of Normandy.) Assume that Britain had been building up her military and had been issuing aggressive statements claiming ownership of Normandy. How do you suppose the international press would portray the United States if we shared military technology and engaged in joint exercises with the United Kingdom? _____________________________________________ U.N. official slams U.S. as 'stingy' over aid Story dated 28 December 2004 "U.N. Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Jan Egeland suggested that the United States and other Western nations were being "stingy" with relief funds, saying there would be more available if taxes were raised." Seriously, folks, the way to deal with these rapacious parasites is to simple cut their funding. If they don't appreciate what we give, they don't deserve any of it. The United States of America is perfectly capable of distributing humanitarian aid on its own -- we need neither the UN's help, nor its permission. While I am thinking about it, does anyone remember the oil-for-food program? At this point, I wouldn't recommend that the U.N. have anything to do with the relief efforts in Asia -- who knows where the money will end up? ---------UN's 'oil for food' was a huge scam; Ottawa has remained silent while the reputation of the world body has been sullied by scandal _____________________________________________ Imperialist China Brazenly and Publicly Threatens to Employ its Military to Crush Taiwan Story dated 26 December 2004 "Should the Taiwan authorities go so far as to make a reckless attempt that constitutes a major incident of 'Taiwan independence', the Chinese people and armed forces will resolutely and thoroughly crush it at any cost," stated the Chinese government in a defense white paper. Taiwan is a sovereign nation. Its citizens are free to determine their own course in life. Why should it concern China if Taiwan, a sovereign nation, should simply state the legal reality that it is free? Note to China (again): Grow up you spoiled brats. Only juvenile bullies seek to oppress others. Such people do this because they are so insecure with themselves that they have to constantly reinforce their self-image by interfering with the freedom of others. If the United Nations really cared about liberty and human rights, such a statement by China should cause the body to call for an international economic boycott of all Chinese goods by all United Nations members. It is unacceptable for the body to tolerate a non-humanitarian, or non-defense, invasion of a sovereign republic that respects the rights of its citizens. If Kofi Annan wanted to try to salvage his undeserved reputation in the international community, he would call for a boycott of China. I have not listened to the O'Reilly Factor lately, but if Bill O'Reilly isn't calling for a boycott of Chinese goods, he ought to. The world community is showing itself to be hypocritical if it continues to ignore China's imperialist designs on the free republic of Taiwan -- imagine if the US announced plans to annex Cuba. In fact, if Bush were a real maverick, he would announce plans to annex Cuba, using the same language that China is using regarding Taiwan. After world denunciation of the United States acquired a sufficiently strong tone, Bush would then make another speech announcing that there never were plans to annex Cuba, that we had made the announcement to make a point about the China-Taiwan situation. _____________________________________________ Hong Kong fades under China's smog Story dated 23 December 2004 "Hong Kong's acclaimed beauty is falling beneath a dense blanket of smog from southern China. Oil -- and especially coal-burning factories and power plants in Hong Kong's neighbor, Guangdong Province, pump about 690,000 tons of sulfur dioxide into the air each year, compared with Hong Kong's 80,000." I only reference this story to point out that the United States is not the only country that pollutes the environments. If the eco-radicals were intellectually honest, they would also attack China. As it stands, the major environmentalist movement is simply anti-American. The so-called 'Green Party' should actually be called the 'Watermelon Party' -- it's green on the outside and red on the inside. The radical environmentalist movement has been the refuge of anti-American communists since the fall of the Soviet Union. _____________________________________________ What Is Behind The "Hate Christians" Campaign? Story dated 21 December 2004 This article takes a peek at the history and aims of the ACLU, which is a major driving force behind the anti-Christian movement. Here's an excerpt: At the center of the attack on the Judeo-Christian heritage of America is the ACLU, which has been appropriately renamed by the Traditional Values Coalition, the "Anti-Christian Liberties Union". This organization, professing to be dedicated to protecting the freedom of all Americans, is relentlessly on the attack against anything and everything the nation considers as fundamental values._____________________________________________ Taiwan Uneasy About China's Plans for 'Anti-Secession' Law Story dated 21 December 2004 I don't blame them considering that the tyrannical Chinese government considers Taiwan to be a rogue province. What many of you might not know is that the government of Taiwan actually has legal title to Taiwan that pre-dates the seizure of power on the mainland by the Communist thugs. The current government of Taiwan is the former government of China that fled to the island in the aftermath of the Communist revolution led by the tyrant, murder, and robber known as Mao. The Government in mainland China has no claim to Taiwan under international laws concerning sovereignty since they never possessed Taiwan -- in fact, if a claim by mainland China were recognized, we would also have to consider any claim by Japan since they actually ruled Taiwan for a while (unlike the Communist Chinese). It's time for the UN to grow up and let China know that violation of Taiwan's sovereignty will not be tolerated. If they don't, the U.S., U.K., Japan, Australia, Canada, Israel, Switzerland, India, Taiwan, and all other liberal republics need to form their own international body to deal with violations of sovereignty by authoritarian regimes. _____________________________________________ China to Start Holding Jury Trials Story dated 20 December 2004 Don't be fooled, this doesn't make China any less tyrannical. Unless the jury can nullify laws they believe to be unjust, China is not free. Our juries have this power, judges and lawyers never inform them of this -- and you can see what that lack of knowledge has done to our freedoms. _____________________________________________ The Dangers of Eminent Domain, Asset Forfeiture, and a lack of Privacy Column dated 18 December 2004 This is a good editorial describing government abuses that can and do happen to innocent Americans all the time. _____________________________________________ Israel Sells Weapons to China Story dated 16 December 2004 "The Israeli defence ministry has confirmed that it faced questioning by Washington over . . . the sale of a sensitive weapons system to China." Israel is an ally of the U.S. They have access to our technology and our government provides them with a lot of foreign aid. They do not have any business selling any sophisticated equipment to the People's Republic of China. _____________________________________________ China has rebuked Japan for issuing a tourist visa to former pro-independence president of Taiwan Story dated 16 December 2004 Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao told a Beijing news conference. "We think Japan's agreeing to let him (Lee) visit is itself a challenge to China's unification efforts and is a type of support for and indulgence of Taiwan's independence forces." Message to China: grow up you big babies. Japan can allow whoever they want into their country so long as the person is not a criminal. China is an imperialist power and their desire to annex Taiwan should not be tolerated. What would the rest of the world say if we decided that Cuba was a wayward territory of the U.S. and sought to annex it? By the way, Britain and Spain ought to listen to the citizens of Gibraltar instead of ignoring them in their negotiations to return the territory to Spain. It is also my opinion that Britain ought to have allowed the citizens of Hong Kong to vote on whether they wanted to be part of China. And why won't anyone discuss the partitioning of Iraq into separate Sunni, Shiite, and Kurdish states? _____________________________________________ CHINA: Writers' detention fuels fears of crackdown Story dated 15 December 2004 The detention of three prominent intellectuals in Beijing has fuelled fears that the new leadership is determined to strengthen the authoritarian control of the party, with scant regard for China's international image. That's fine -- this just proves that the People's Republic of China has no respect for human rights and ought to be ostracized. _____________________________________________ China Detains 3 Who Criticized Government Story dated 14 December 2004 The Chinese police on Monday afternoon detained three leading intellectuals who have been critical of the government, apparently stepping up a campaign to silence public dissent. Wonderful. Just remember, when you buy a product that was made in China, this is the kind of activity you are helping to fund. Are you okay with that? _____________________________________________ OPEC Considers Curbing Supply, Oil Rises Story dated 09 December 2004 Well, it's good to see that we still have more oil than demand for it. However, consider the following: oil is the blood of our economy. If the flow of oil stops, so does our economy -- Japan knows this well, their own oil supply problems were a primary impetus behind their attack on the United States. We burn a tremendous amount of oil every day in our non-stop 24-hour global economy. Even if our oil supplies replenish themselves over time, how long will it take for our demand for oil will outstrip the earth's ability to replenish it? Think 'alternative energy' -- specifically, a series of Solar Energy Production Satellites (or SEPS). _____________________________________________ Germany Seeks to End EU's China Arms Ban Story dated 06 December 2004 Germany is not our friend. If they would trade arms with a potential enemy of the United States, they do not have our best interests in mind. I've never understood international arms trade. I mean, sure if your government is not buying, it makes sense to find alternative employment -- but why would you want to sell advanced weapons to an aggressive country with a huge population of males who will never marry that has demonstrated its willingness to antagonize foreign powers? _____________________________________________ Asset seizing upheld Story dated 03 December 2004 Police departments and prosecutors in New Jersey are allowed to take cash and goods they believe are linked to criminal behavior. And that's final. For now. No, no, no! This is blatant theft. I apologize to all of the moral people who serve as police officers, but for allowing this sort of thing to happen, you are guilty as well. Before you call me unreasonable, consider your opinions of the Catholic priests who did not molest young boys, but also did nothing about it. ---------Highway Robbery _____________________________________________ Fair Tax -- Flat Tax With a Positive Twist Story dated 03 December 2004 The Fair Tax, is the best idea I have ever heard of. It would eliminate the evil IRS and it would be the end of progressive taxation that makes it so hard for those of us who are not already rich to become so. It would also almost completely eliminate the Congress' ability to buy votes from people. The current plan is to replace all federal taxes with a single 23% national retail sales tax. And no, this would not raise the prices of goods -- these prices would likely fall since corporations would not pay income taxes and no raw materials would be taxed -- only end consumer products would be taxed. All you leftists complaining about U.S. companies going off shore? Our tax structure is one of the leading causes of this phenomenon. The Fair Tax would make the United States the biggest tax shelter in the world. Imagine what effect this would have on our economy -- companies from all over the world would be trying to come here. _____________________________________________ County DA creates PAC on the Web to address illegal immigration Story dated 03 December 2004 This organization, Us Securing America PAC, was created to support the prosecution of people who violate our immigration laws. The United States is our house, we ought to be able to set rules for who can come into our house that outside people should have to comply with. My major problem with immigration is that our government, thanks to evil organizations such as the ACLU, does not require immigrants to learn our language and culture, instead, it uses our tax dollars to force us to accommodate their language and culture. In my opinion, this is a criminal act committed against the people of the United States. _____________________________________________ Sudanese ex-slave appeals to Yale students Story dated 03 December 2004 Have you noticed how civil rights 'warlords' in this country are conspicuously silent regarding actual slavery taking place elsewhere in the world? As it turns out, slavery is still alive and well in the Sudan. _____________________________________________ Judge Rules In Favor Of Developers In Norwood Eminent Domain Case Story dated 02 December 2004 A judge has ruled developers can tear a privately owned house down, clearing the way for construction of the Rookwood Exchange which will feature condos, apartments and retail. This criminal judge, Beth Myers, ought to be sent to prison for a long time for grand theft. Oh, that's right, when a judge rules that one party can take another party's private property, it isn't theft. _____________________________________________ Analysis: Study shows U.S. losing drug war Story dated 02 December 2004 The war on drugs (more like a war on privacy and private property) is a waste of money. In addition to that, I believe that every FBI, DEA, or other law enforcement agent, judge, or United States attorney who participates in the arrest and jailing of someone for possession of a narcotic (without showing evidence of direct harm to other people) is guilty of a crime and should, themselves, be jailed. The ugly truth is that many (but not all) of the 'criminals' that are sent to federal prison for drug use have never harmed another human being (harm = deprive them of life, liberty, or property through force or fraud). These imperialist thugs are guilty of taking away the liberty of the people described in the previous sentence. You tell me who the criminals are? _____________________________________________ |
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
