OPEC Considers Curbing Supply, Oil Rises
Story dated 09 December 2004
Well, it's good to see that we still have more oil than demand for it. However, consider the following: oil is the blood of our economy. If the flow of oil stops, so does our economy -- Japan knows this well, their own oil supply problems were a primary impetus behind their attack on the United States. We burn a tremendous amount of oil every day in our non-stop 24-hour global economy. Even if our oil supplies replenish themselves over time, how long will it take for our demand for oil will outstrip the earth's ability to replenish it? Think 'alternative energy' -- specifically, a series of Solar Energy Production Satellites (or SEPS).
