    Reading List for September 30th

Sorry I haven't been blogging as much. I've been writing fiction and trying to get that published.

Here are some blog entries that interest me:

Kelo v. New London is still being played out:
---------Second thoughts now the heat is on?
    ---------THIS LAND WAS YOUR LAND
(by the way, Constitution Death Pool is really an excellent blog in general and well worth a read)

I've rarely heard a truer word spoken:
---------When there aren't enough criminals, one makes them.

Able Danger: Who Knew about 9/11 Beforehand, Who Gave Orders Suppressing the Knowledge?

What is Able Danger? No it is not a new television show on the Action Channel. It is the code name for a top-secret covert military intelligence program. This operation was a success in that it identified the 9/11 hijackers long before 9/11. The trouble is that certain people in our government forbade them to use the information they gathered in order to stop the attacks before they happened. And no, it wasn't a George W. Bush plot. . . this happened during the Clinton administration.

I want to know who was behind this scandal and I want to see them sent to prison for a long time. Our military did its job, they identified a threat to the people of these United States. Some person or persons in the government prevented that information to be used within US borders. We need to find out who and see that they are punished.

Illegal Immigration Still on the Rise

"Illegal immigrants are increasing despite tighter border security and now outnumber foreigners moving to the United States legally."

This does not make me happy. For those of you Libertarians who think illegal immigration is perfectly okay, you are not thinking clearly. United States territory is like our house. We get to say who comes into our house. It's basic property rights.

I have never understood why President Bush wants to help illegal immigrants. His base supporters are largely against this. In fact, he would have lost the last election based on immigration (I suspect) if 9/11 hadn't happened and caused him to put a stop to his horse-trading with President Fox of Mexico.

    The Roberts Hearings

I am hearing reports that certain Democrat senators are going to be asking Roberts tough questions. I'll bet none of these tough questions include whether or not there is a right to keep and bear arms in the Constitution. And this is one of my biggest pet peeves. The Law Lords of our Supreme Court are absolutely certain that there is a right to kill unborn children (arising out of a non-specific right to privacy) in there, but they are just not sure whether or not there is a right to keep and bear arms. It makes me sick. If you want to do something, use the link to the left to write your senators and tell them to start asking the right sorts of questions. If they aren't willing to make sure a potential Justice will uphold the Constitution, they might as well not hold hearings at all. Just flip a coin.

    Something's Fishy

    Story

First, the authorities refused to mobilize and evacuate people who wanted out of New Orleans. How they're talking about forcing people who don't want to leave out of their homes.

Honestly, it's either not enough, or too much with these people. They never get anything right. Maybe the anarcho-capitalists are right. Maybe having no government at all is the best way to solve problems.

Sorry about the sparsity and brevity of my posts lately. I'm devoting most of my energies to finding more suitable employment. Anyone want to hire an experienced writer/copyeditor for regular work?

I Ask of Public Officials Two Things Only: Leadership and Competence

Why is good government so hard to come by? I am watching the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and am flatly astonished by the lack of leadership being provided by our alleged government.

I have a simple question. How is it that our leaders can manage to send men and materials thousands of miles overseas to conquer distant lands and defend foreign peoples, and to aid Tsunami victims in nations that don't even like us very much (all at the expense of the American people), and yet can't even get water to the victims of what is being cited as the most devistating natural disaster in US history?

President Bush, who I used to think of as at least an okay leader, is not showing any leadership accumen at all, in my estimation. A true leader would have sent in the army by now to serve in a relief capacity, and the national guard to assist law enforcemnt. As for the effect this has had on energy production, a true leader would have signed executive orders allowing energy exploration in areas of this country currently considered off limits. But then again, a true leader would actually defend the borders of this country against invasion. This president has never, ever done that. In a way, he cares more about Mexicans than he does about you and I.

It's time for a revolution. Something is rotten in the state of the Union. Time to take out the trash. We have to get rid of all of these politicians. They are pooisoning our country and we will die if something is not done. In the next election, I want to see local police officers, mechanics, convenience store managers, plumbers, electricians, firefighters, and working people generally take over national offices. If we don't banish the professional political class, we will die. Look at the Gulf coast. The body politic is already very ill. Do you think this would have happened 40 years ago? No. Because we weren't afraid to do the right thing back then. Now we are, because we are afraind to assume responsibility (blame) if things go wrong -- our so-called government, aided by professional trial lawyers (leeches) is all too happy to put you in jail for taking bold action if things don't turn out for the best.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
