    Something's Fishy

    Story

First, the authorities refused to mobilize and evacuate people who wanted out of New Orleans. How they're talking about forcing people who don't want to leave out of their homes.

Honestly, it's either not enough, or too much with these people. They never get anything right. Maybe the anarcho-capitalists are right. Maybe having no government at all is the best way to solve problems.

Sorry about the sparsity and brevity of my posts lately. I'm devoting most of my energies to finding more suitable employment. Anyone want to hire an experienced writer/copyeditor for regular work?

If the public doesn't learn anything else from Katrina I hope they learn to be self reliant and not count on local, state or federal government for help. Have you heard of Jabbar Gibson? I heard and posted about him today. I hear he could be facing criminal charges for helping himself and others he met along the way. I hope not.

God Bless America, God Save The Republic.

Inner city New Orleans is a great example of how we've made an entire class dependent on the government to such a degree that they can't even leave when a Cat 5 hurricane is on its way.

Our inner cities could all pass for third world countries. The tragedy of New Orleans simply brought the victim culture to light.

I really don't think anarcho-captitalists believe we shouldn't have government, but rather define government a little differently. If we agree that the purpose of government is to protect private property we can see coercive systems of property protection are failing miserably. Andrew J. Galambos defines government as, "Any person or ogranization that sells products or services to protect property, to which the owner of the property may voluntarily subscribe." Under this definition of government, manufacturers and associated service providers of locks, alarms, fences, guns, ammunition, insurance (life, auto, home, health, property), telephones, security guards, and locksmiths are each in their own unique way representative government. They represent directly their clientele who voluntarily subscribe to their products or services designed to protect property. They ARE ALL government by the Galambos definition. I think what the anarcho-capitalist rejects is the State. Galambos defines the state as, "...any person or organization that claims to protect property by coercing the owner of the property to use and pay for its 'services,' claiming 'legality' as its justification." Essentially, a proprietary property protection product or service is superior to the coercive state monopoly because the individual user of that product or service can elect to take his business elsewhere which creates an incentive for the providers of property protection products or services to improve upon what they do. The coercive state monopoly has little incentive to improve and therefore we end up with what we have in New Orleans.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

    --Samuel Adams
