Muslim cleric offered $1M bounty on Danish cartoonists who drew caricatures of Mohammad... during Friday prayers
Modern Tribalist reports that
A Pakistani Muslim cleric and his followers offered rewards amounting to over $1 million (575,000 pounds) for anyone who [murdered] Danish cartoonists who drew caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad that have enraged Muslims worldwide.
The cleric offered the bounty during Friday prayers as Muslim anger against the cartoons flared anew in parts of Asia. That's nice. Way to show that you're the religion of peace.
To American Muslims:
I don't know how you want me to take this -- because I haven't heard much from you. I would like to think that you're more like me than like the radicals. You probably have a couple of kids whom you hope do well in school, whom you might take to soccer practice so they can beat the kids on the other team, and whom you might wish would attend religious services more regularly. April is coming up and you are probably thinking very unfriendly thoughts toward the IRS -- which is natural because they are
doing something to you. You are probably hoping that you will be able to stay on schedule with your payments into your IRA so you will have plenty of money when you retire so you can spoil your grandkids. You probably only think of the Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Baha'is, and Hindus you know as just being other people (unless they're mean) and don't much care how they worship as long as they don't try to force you to convert.
That is how I would like to think of American Muslims. It is very difficult, however, when all I see in the media are violent hordes of foreign Muslims calling for the murder of all non-Muslims.
Now, you might ask, how can a Christian criticize a Muslim for calling for the murder of a cartoonist when our very own Pat Robertson recently called for the killing of the socialist Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. Well the difference is, Pat Robertson apologized.
"Is it right to call for assassination? No, and I apologize for that statement," Robertson said. "I spoke in frustration that we should accommodate the man who thinks the U.S. is out to kill him."It is easy to get a Christian minister to retract such statements because Jesus Christ never, ever called for violence against another, no matter what their religion or nationality was, and no matter what they were doing to you. Where is the similar aspect of the teachings of Mohammed, who is known to have taken up the sword to expand Islamic influence?
