Murder for Hire Last week, Maulana Yousef Qureshi went on public record stating that he was offering a large sum of money to anyone who would murder the cartoonists who portrayed Mohammed in a satirical manner. This is a crime. It's called murder for hire. Arrest warrants should immediately be sworn out against him in Denmark and any other country that has a reciprocal law-enforcement arrangement with Denmark (not that this thug strikes me as the type who would leave his country, but it's a start).
If a religion is trying to portray itself as a religion of peace, its leaders should be speaking out against violence, not funding it. In my opinion, criticism of institutional Islam has not been at nearly the level it needs to be in the wake of this incident. If you disagree, just imagine how the world media would react if the Pope offered a large sum of money to have Terrence McNally killed (his play, Corpus Christi, depicts Jesus as being a homosexual). Interestingly, an "Islamic group based in the UK has issued a death fatwa against [Terrence McNally]. . . Muslims regard Jesus as a messenger of God . . . [and] the fatwa is to express the Islamic point of view that [to insult] the messengers of God . . . is a crime." _____________________________________________
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
