European Satires of Mohammed Draw Ire of Muslims

Newspapers across Europe have reprinted caricatures of the Prophet [Mohammed] to show support for a Danish paper whose cartoons have sparked Muslim outrage. . . The caricatures include drawings of [Mohammed] wearing a headdress shaped like a bomb, while another shows him saying that paradise was running short of virgins for suicide bombers.

I like it. Does anyone remember how Mohammed behaved? He was a conqueror. He spread Islam by the sword. It's not that far a stretch to portray the founder of the so-called religion of peace as a militant jihadist.

After Mohammed's death, Islam continued to be spread by the sword into Christian lands. The Muslims tried to overrun Europe and were only stopped by the heroic actions of Charles Martel at the Battle of Tours.

I am getting sick and tired of people saying that all of this Islamic aggression is just a response to the Crusades, and that Christians are responsible for all the problems. The Battle of Tours was in 732. The Crusades didn't start until 1095, when Pope Urban II authorized the First Crusade at the Council of Clermont.

The Crusades were a response to the overrunning of formerly Christian lands by Muslims. It looks like the Europeans are beginning to notice that the same thing is happening again. Muslims are immigrating to Europe in ever increasing numbers. They speak out against European lifestyles, and criticize Europeans, yet cry foul whenever someone speaks ill of Islam. Now the Europeans are beginning to strike back -- with political cartoons. And we see the hypocritical Muslims crying foul again. I love it when practitioners of the religion of peace resort to death threats. It shows us who they really are.

Or maybe they really aren't like that. Maybe most Muslims are good people who want only to peacefully coexist. But if that's the case, we need to start hearing from them in a big way, because if the violent Muslims are only a minority, they are a very vocal minority.

With the conversion of the Roman Empire to Christianity, the area the Romans called "Palestine" became Christian long before it was overun by Muslims. Prior to that, the area was Jewish and pagan. The Muslims conquered the "Holy Land", like everything else, just as you say, by the sword. To the extent they were religiously motivated, the Crusades were an effort to RE-take the Holy Land, which had been Christian before it was conquered and occupied by Muslims.
