CNN/USA Today/Gallup: Nearly 6 in 10 Americans oppose war in Iraq; growing number dissatisfied with war on terrorism Story dated 21 June 2005
So the pollsters have discovered that we are not satisfied with the war in Iraq and the war on terror. I used to be in favor of the war in Iraq, but now I am opposed. It has become clear to me that this government does not have the stomach to give the orders necessary to achieve decisive victory (read carpet-bombing the Sunni Triangle). They are more interested in tying up our soldiers in so much red tape that they cannot even do their job properly without having to worry about being brought up on charges and sent to prison. So no, I no longer wish to have my money spent on an endeavor that our government has no desire to win. The velvet glove approach will do noting but get our soldiers killed. Look people, we have an air force. Use it. Firebomb the trouble spots. That is what you need to do to win. If you can't give the order to do that, then you shouldn't have gone to 'war' to begin with.
As for the war on terror, how about you start fighting terrorists instead of annoying the American People to death with your inane laws that infringe upon our Constitutional rights? That's why we are dissatisfied with the war on terror -- because, instead of going after likely terrorists, you have decided to view the average American as a potential threat so you don't seem discriminatory (for example, putting grandmothers on terrorist watch lists for attempting to board a plane with a dull butter knife).
In my opinion, it's time to vote them all out of office. Next election, vote not Republican, nor Democrat. Vote for Libertarians, for Independents, for Southern Party members. Do not continue to reward Republicans for their failure to keep government from harassing us. Do not reward the Democrats for not being Republicans -- because the Democrats want even more government intrusion in your life. Everyone write in Ron Paul of Texas for president. _____________________________________________
