Another Chinese Defector Backs Chen's Spy Claim
Story dated 08 June 2005
"The diplomat, Chen Yonglin, the first secretary at the Chinese Consulate-General in Sydney, left his post last month. Chen claimed China had 1,000 spies in Australia involved in illegal activities, including abducting Chinese nationals and smuggling them back to China." China, of course, says that he's crazy. Australia, of course, believes China because they are negotiating a lucrative free trade deal with the tyrants of Beijing. Now, "[a] second Chinese defector has claimed Beijing is running a large spy network in Australia and other Western countries, including the United States." Are we a little more convinced now?
"Hao Fengjun, 32, backed Chen's claim of a Chinese spy network in Australia . . . Hao, who traveled to Australia as a tourist in February and sought asylum, told reporters Wednesday in the southern city of Melbourne that he was responsible for analyzing information gathered by Chinese spies in Australia and other countries including the United States and Canada . . . His translator and friend Serene Luo said Hao copied 200 documents from his computer and smuggled them into Australia, giving them to immigration officials." These documents included information on how "how the public security department in China ... persecute Falun Gong and other religious groups."
Go ahead, keep treating the tyrants of Beijing as a legitimate regime. By doing so, you are complicit in the repression of their citizens. I really hope the U.S. grants this man asylum.
