16 Years Later, China Still Repressing People -- Yet Somehow Has Regained Prestige Story dated 04 June 2005
Regarding the brutal actions of the PRC at Tiananmen Square: "China's Foreign Ministry spokesman indicated this week that the government would not consider changing its verdict on the wave of activism that marked the spring of 1989, and which it has dubbed a counter-revolutionary rebellion . . . In the past year China has also closed journals, stifled academic debate and detained journalists, most recently a Hong Kong-based reporter for Singapore's Straits Times, in signals that President Hu Jintao's government is unlikely to embrace reform . . . A senior Chinese diplomat has also sought political asylum in Australia with his family, the Weekend Australian reported on Saturday. It quoted him as saying he wanted to defect because he could no longer support China's persecution of dissidents."
So the MSM (mainstream media) does give us the information regarding China's evil actions. Yet, somehow, they can still say with a straight face that "China has recovered the international prestige it lost in the violent suppression of the movement."
So, The PRC rolls over peaceful protesters with tanks. The PRC then continues to support that action and continues to enforce the same policies to this day. They offer no apology for their act, and are unlikely to embrace reform. So, naturally, they recover the prestige lost due to that action. Makes perfect sense.
Something stinks here.
