China and Russia kick off first joint military exercises

    Story

It's here. Remember the exercise that analysts think is a dress rehearsal for an invasion of Taiwan (or Japan too if you really want to get down to it)? As we speak, Russia, or "friend" is helping China improve its military. China has shown itself to be hostile toward its neighbors. Why does the major media ignore the significance of this event?

"Russia and China began unprecedented joint military exercises involving air, sea and land forces Thursday, as commanders from both nations insisted the war games weren't meant to intimidate other countries. [yeah.. . tell that to Japan and Taiwan]" [comment added]

Repeat question to Congress, Mr. President, MSM: Why do we ignore the rising Chinese Dragon and fail to see it for the military threat that it is? We are making its new military power possible with preferential trade treatment. Of course, if you don't care about the Able Danger scandal, why care about this, right?

I have already briefly discussed this topic in the past:
---------China, Russia plan joint military exercise
---------Russian to Participate in Chinese Rehearsal for Taiwan Invasion
---------China and Russia to Engage in Joint Military Exercise

I can see where you're coming from on this one. However, as an advocate of free trade and an opponent of sanctions and protectionism, I don't see how altering our trade relations with China would help. Yes China is a very formidable and somewhat aggressive military power, but so is the U.S. At least we're trading with each other. Countries that trade rarely go to war. Trade restrictions and sanctions will only harm relations and cause China to become more beligerent. It would give them ammunition to use to rile up their population in support of war. I believe that what is needed is more media and public pressure against Chinese militarism, along with increased trade and relations with the Chinese people. We can only hope that public opinion will force the tyrants of Beijing to choose peace and prosperity over war.

I'm not going to make a main post out of this because I am not convinced that this is not fiction. However, I have no compelling reason to think that this is fiction, either, which is why I'm bringing it up at all.

The following links lead to pages dealing with what is alleged to be a speech given by Chinese Defense Minster Chi Haotian.

"Our economic development is all about preparing for the need of war!" he is alleged to have said.

The minister also allegedly speaks of conquering America in order to take the land for a Chinese colony:
"Only by using non-destructive weapons that can kill many people will we be able to reserve America for ourselves. There has been rapid development of modern biological technology, and new bio weapons have been invented one after another. Of course we have not been idle; in the past years we have seized the opportunity to master weapons of this kind. We are capable of achieving our purpose of "cleaning up" America all of a sudden. When Comrade Xiaoping was still with us, the Party Central Committee had the perspicacity to make the right decision not to develop aircraft carrier groups and focus instead on developing lethal weapons that can eliminate mass populations of the enemy country."

Reports like this make me nervous because the Chinese government is structured in such a way as to make this easily possible. China is not a liberal republic. It is hard to bring a liberal Republic to war, especially with an important trading partner. It is easy for Dictatorships to go to war because the people do not need to be convinced. The so-called "People's Republic" of China is a dictatorship.

“protect peace and stability in our region and the whole world.” there idea of peace and stability is one where, if they at least don't directly own the entire region, the two countries form some kind of alliance where they dominate over east Asia.

According to Sun Tzu, "in war prepare for peace, in peace prepare for war"
that seems to be what they're doing.

Knowing that the Chinese are avid studiers of Sun Tzu and his Art of War, it is important to recall one of his principal lessons, "all warfare is based on deception". It is possible China is making others believe it has its eyes on Taiwan and Japan, there are other areas in the world, perhaps China is trying to become a global power, with little follower across the world. Forget economic or diplomatic pressure, it's time we start preparing for a major conflic to, maybe another Cold War, if things get bad enough.

I'm happy to see Scriptor has read The Art Of War. I think a lot of United States citizens have been deceived by all the Made In China products in our stores and think China is our friend.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
